Tác hại nguy hiểm của mối đối với kết cấu nền móng công trình
The Hien Luong – Ben Hai Historic Sites Conservation Zone in Quang Tri Province, with an investment of over 680 million VND, commenced construction in September 2003. However, just over 2 years after construction, the building was severely infested by termites. The pillars and floorboards were hollowed out by termites, rendering the property unable to remain open for visitors.
Another structure in Cao Thuong Village, northern Bac Giang Province, shared the same fate. Half of the 48 ironwood pillars—each with a circumference of two meters—in this famous communal house were heavily damaged by termites and other wood-boring insects. This has left the over 300-year-old communal house, renowned for its sculptural architecture, facing the imminent risk of collapse at any moment.
Due to their wood-eating habit along with an extremely large number of members, termites are considered a leading pest threatening construction works, houses, and many other important human items. At the same time, termites are also the cause of foundation subsidence, damaging and collapsing many large constructions, bridges, culverts, and important dikes and dams. These seemingly small creatures silently attack unprotected constructions and cause tremendously large damages.

A construction work infested by termites
Current termite control methods primarily involve using chemicals for pre-construction soil treatment to eradicate and prevent termites from damaging structures. This is a common method widely adopted due to its relatively simple execution. Over time, however, this approach has proven to be less effective. Despite having a warranty, due to improper treatment techniques or weather impacts, the actual warranty period is not sustained, with many sites only lasting 1–2 years compared to the 5-year commitment.
Additionally, the chemicals used are quite hazardous, potentially causing environmental pollution and harming humans and pets. Consequently, there is a pressing need for termite eradication and prevention measures that secure construction works over the long term while ensuring safety for both the environment and human health.

Termite eradication solution - Exterra
Currently, many countries such as the USA, Australia, and Asian nations are utilizing a more advanced technology that overcomes the weaknesses of existing methods. That is the Exterra termite interception and baiting system. Mr. Nguyen Bao Son – Deputy General Director of Vietnam Fumigation Joint Stock Company (VFC) – the exclusive distributor of Exterra in Vietnam, stated: “We have extensively researched this social insect species, deeply understanding them to deliver an appropriate method without utilizing toxic chemicals.”
Invented in the USA, Exterra technology consists not just of standalone products but a comprehensive termite interception and control system. Exterra creates an ideal environment to attract termites. The stations act as a perimeter barrier around the building to defend against external termite attacks and eliminate them before they infiltrate and damage the structure, all without utilizing toxic chemicals that pollute the surrounding environment.
Notably, the system delivers permanent termite control efficacy for protected properties. Due to these prominent advantages over conventional solutions, the Exterra termite interception and baiting system has been successfully winning over even the most demanding clients worldwide.

Installing the Exterra system at The Everich
Currently, over 80.000 km of constructions around the world have been and are being protected by Exterra against termite damage. In Vietnam, many large and important constructions have installed the Exterra system, such as Ea Krông Krou hydroelectric dam (Khanh Hoa), Big C supermarket (Binh Duong), The Everich Luxury Apartment Building & Commercial Center (Ho Chi Minh City), large resorts in the central region, private villas, and many other historical, cultural, and economic value works of the country.
