    INSECT-RELATED QUESTIONS

Q: Can insect light traps effectively control mosquitoes in open outdoor environments?

A: Most insect light traps currently available on the market are designed to attract and capture insects already present inside the treatment area. Therefore, placing the trap facing outward will not effectively control mosquitoes and may instead attract insects from the outside environment into the protected area.

Q: Why are there still flies around fruit even though my kitchen is screened and clean?

A: Under the conditions described, the flies in your home are most likely fruit flies. These flies do not usually enter from outside but instead develop from larvae and eggs already present on ripe fruits such as bananas, oranges, and pineapples when exposed to suitable environmental conditions.

Q: Can we rely solely on insect light traps for flying insect control such as flies and mosquitoes? Why?

A: You may use insect light traps such as Vectothor (see details at Vectothor light trap) to capture flying insects as required. This method helps reduce the number of flying insects within the treatment area. However, for the most effective flying insect control, it should be combined with exclusion measures, sanitation practices, and chemical treatments when necessary.

Q: As the use of chemicals and toxic baits becomes increasingly restricted in beverage, food, and animal feed manufacturing facilities, can mechanical methods and light traps completely eliminate and prevent pests?

A: No single method can completely eliminate or prevent pests. In most cases, the highest level of effectiveness is achieved through an integrated approach that combines non-chemical methods such as mechanical control measures, insect light traps, and environmental sanitation improvements together with chemical treatments when necessary.

Q: Can the chemicals used in insect control spraying cause allergic reactions in humans?

A: Most insect control chemicals currently used are considered relatively safe and rarely cause allergic reactions in humans. However, for individuals with highly sensitive skin, furniture, clothing, blankets, and personal items should be carefully covered or stored before treatment. Items such as towels should either be removed or thoroughly washed before reuse. In particular, infant and children's belongings should be stored safely or removed from the treatment area before spraying.

Q: If fruits or vegetables in the kitchen are accidentally exposed to treatment chemicals, can they still be consumed? Why?

A: The chemicals used by PestMan are non-systemic, meaning they are not absorbed into fruits or vegetables. Therefore, if produce is accidentally exposed to our treatment chemicals, it can still be safely consumed after being thoroughly washed. In addition, based on the experience and professional techniques of our technicians, direct chemical exposure to food products is highly unlikely.

Q: How do insect control chemicals affect insects?

A: Insect control chemicals eliminate insects through three modes of action: contact, fumigation, and ingestion toxicity.

Q: How long does the treatment remain effective after spraying?

A: Depending on environmental conditions, the residual effectiveness of insect control chemicals after treatment is generally as follows:
    – In enclosed indoor areas and elevated locations, insect control chemicals may remain effective for up to 3 months after application.
    – Under normal residential conditions, the treatment remains effective against ants and cockroaches for approximately 2 months and against mosquitoes for approximately 1 month after application. In outdoor environments exposed to direct sunlight, rain, wind, and other environmental conditions, the effectiveness of the chemicals decreases more quickly. Therefore, treatment intervals should be shorter.

Q: After treatment, how long should occupants wait before re-entering the house?

A: After treatment, you should wait until the chemicals are completely dry, then ventilate and clean the area before resuming normal activities. Based on practical experience, the recommended re-entry period is approximately 1 hour for adults and 2 hours for children and elderly individuals.

Q: Can insect control chemicals used for flies and mosquitoes also eliminate rodents?

    A: No.

Q: Can insect control treatment be carried out in homes with a one-year-old child? Will it affect children's health?

A: Homes with young children can still safely undergo insect control treatment. However, after the chemicals have dried, the treated area should be properly ventilated and cleaned before normal activities resume. In general, the minimum recommended re-entry period for children is half a day.

Q: Why does the same chemical product sometimes not provide consistent results when applied by myself?

A: Effective treatment requires several important factors, including proper chemical dilution, correct application techniques, suitable spraying equipment, and appropriate treatment timing. Most importantly, users must clearly understand the characteristics and intended use of each chemical product before application.

Q: I recently carried out insect treatment in a closed, air-conditioned room but still see flies resting on the walls. How should this issue be handled?

A: To provide an accurate assessment of the fly species, infestation source, and affected areas, the current conditions should remain unchanged until our technicians conduct an on-site inspection. Based on the inspection results, we will recommend the most appropriate and effective treatment solution.

Q: Will insect control treatment stain walls or damage wooden furniture inside the house?

A: PestMan’s treatment process will not stain walls or damage wooden furniture after application.

Q: Are the chemicals used for treatment harmful to humans?

A: All chemicals used by PestMan are included in the “list of insect control chemicals permitted for household and public health use” issued by the ministry of health of vietnam. PestMan always applies chemicals carefully and strictly follows all label instructions and safety regulations.

Q: What types of insects can be controlled through chemical treatment?

    TERMITE-RELATED QUESTIONS

Q: After eliminating a termite colony using the Exterra system, can new termite colonies still develop inside the house?

A: Termites are naturally widespread in the environment and continuously search for food sources. Therefore, even after a termite colony has been eliminated using the Exterra ags baiting system, it cannot be guaranteed that new termite colonies will not develop in the future.

However, with the Exterra termite monitoring and baiting system, termites can be attracted and eliminated outside the structure before they invade your property.

Q: Does the company sell termite treatment chemicals?

A: Currently, termite treatment chemicals are available at our branches together with usage guidance for customers. However, for optimal results, we recommend having our specialists conduct an on-site inspection and provide the most suitable treatment solution for your property.

Q: Why does post-construction termite treatment using colony elimination methods only include a limited warranty period instead of coverage for 5 years or longer?

A: Colony elimination methods are designed to completely eliminate termite colonies that have already been identified within the affected area. However, in the future, termites may still reinvade the property through winged termites arriving from other locations or from previously undetected colonies beneath the building foundation. Customers may register for PestMan’s periodic termite inspection and preventive treatment service every 3 months to minimize future termite risks.

Q: Why can termites still cause damage on upper floors even though the concrete structure was constructed properly?

A: Termites can invade upper floors through construction cracks, expansion joints, or gaps within wall structures. They release formic acid that weakens mortar and allows them to penetrate through small openings. In actual termite treatment projects, PestMan has encountered termite infestations as high as the 33rd floor of a building.

    OTHER PEST-RELATED QUESTIONS

Q: Will bed bugs die after residual treatment spraying?

A: Bed bugs may be eliminated if they come into contact with residual chemicals remaining in the treated area. However, to ensure effective control, follow-up inspections should be carried out carefully so that any remaining infestation can be treated promptly.

Q: Are snakes, lizards, bats, birds, and cats included in PestMan’s pest control service scope?

A: Snakes, lizards, bats, birds, and cats are not always considered pests. In many cases, they are beneficial animals that help control rodents and insects and contribute to environmental balance. However, if required, PestMan can provide suitable exclusion or deterrent solutions based on specific site conditions.

Q: Does frequent use of pest control chemicals for insects and rodents cause environmental pollution?

A: All chemicals are supplied with material safety data sheets (msds) and official registration certificates approved for circulation by the ministry of health. Environmental risks have therefore already been strictly evaluated and controlled by manufacturers. In addition, PestMan is committed to using all chemicals strictly in accordance with msds guidelines and label instructions, minimizing any potential environmental impact.

    Q: What is pest control?

A: Pest control refers to integrated measures including physical, chemical, and biological methods used to eliminate or manage organisms that may threaten human health, living conditions, or business and production activities.

    Q: What is a pest?

A: A pest is an organism that:
    – Causes nuisance to humans
    – Damages human property and assets
    – Transmits diseases to humans

Q: What methods are used to control bats and birds?

A: To effectively control bats and birds, the most suitable approach is to apply exclusion measures such as protective netting and reduce exposed food sources that may attract them into living areas. In addition, deterrent methods using sound or visual warning signals may also be applied.
