Currently, the new eco-friendly Exterra technology, which is easily controlled and brings long-term protection to constructions, has been applied worldwide.
Effectiveness comes from new technology
Mia Resort (Nha Trang) is one of the first businesses to apply this technology in Vietnam. This is a resort in Nha Trang city highly appreciated by many tourists for its beautiful scenery, carefully tended gardens, and rustic wooden furniture, simple yet convenient. With the resort's design in harmony with nature, the risk of attracting wood-destroying insects like termites is very high.
Stemming from the mindset that prevention is better than cure, this resort quickly applied Exterra protection technology, an effective termite interception and baiting system originating from the USA.
Mr. Nguyen The, Maintenance and Security Director of Mia Resort said: "For resorts, long-term and effective termite prevention and elimination solutions are truly essential. Termite damage will leave extremely serious consequences, not only to items made of bamboo, wood... termites can also damage other solid infrastructure".
To find the most effective termite control method, Mia Resort set standards suitable for the resort's specific characteristics, including: completely eradicating existing termite colonies within the resort premises; effectively preventing termite intrusion from the outside; alongside safety factors for the surrounding environment and ensuring the aesthetic factor of the construction.
Mr. The said: "This method has met the above-mentioned required standards at a reasonable cost. Exterra's ability to intercept termites along with its commitment to long-term, permanent protection is very consistent with Mia Resort's motto of construction protection and sustainable development."
Starting installation and operation in November 2011, the Exterra system has proven its effectiveness through completely preventing termite attacks, protecting the structural integrity and furniture of the resort.
60.000 km – Speaking numbers
As of the end of 2012, the Exterra system had been applied to many constructions in Vietnam and around the world, contributing to protecting more than 60.000 km around buildings. This result comes from the capability of thorough termite control and prevention thanks to simplicity in installation, aesthetics in design, and efficiency in operation.
The Exterra system establishes an effective property protection barrier. Exterra stations are placed underground linking into a perimeter around the construction, preventing termite intrusion from the outside. The difference of the Exterra method lies in the use of the naturally derived Requiem compound to treat termites. Considered by termites as a delicacy even better than wood, this compound acts slowly, making the new exoskeleton after molting of all termites in the colony become thin and brittle, preventing them from growing and developing, thus dying out.
Independent trials since 2003 at many prestigious laboratories and universities in Singapore, the Philippines, Australia, the USA... have shown that this new method is safe for humans and the environment, has an immediate effect, and prevents termite intrusion into constructions. Therefore, effectiveness is guaranteed for the long term and permanently, as long as the system is maintained within the construction premises.
In addition to Mia Resort, the Exterra system has been applied to many luxury resorts and hotels in the central and southern regions such as Vinpearl (Da Nang and Nha Trang), Huong Giang hotel (Hue), Sai Gon - Quang Binh hotel (Quang Binh), Six Senses Ninh Vân Resort (Nha Trang)... In 2012, Vietnam Fumigation Joint Stock Company (VFC), the exclusive distributor of this technology through the PestMan brand, also sponsored the installation and operation of the Exterra system for historical and cultural monuments such as Minh Khiem Duong (Tu Duc Tom, Hue), Thien Duc pagoda (Hoi An), and Independence Palace (Ho Chi Minh City).
