Exterra protects Hue ruong house architecture in Saigon

In the heart of modern Saigon, a traditional Hue "Nha Ruong" (wooden beam house) stands out with its ancient and tranquil beauty, spanning over 2,600m². To safeguard this wooden masterpiece, the Exterra Termite Baiting System was chosen as its primary guardian.

Amidst the bustling and modern high-rise buildings of Saigon, a house stands out with its ancient and serene architecture. The owner is a successful businessman in Saigon. Deeply fond of the refined and unique architecture of the ancient capital of Hue, he built this traditional Hue-style house on his 2600m2 plot of land.

The front of the estate captures the quintessential characteristics of Hue’s ancient imperial architecture: the main house features a 3-compartment, 2-wing structure, with walls, flooring, pillar-and-beam systems, and interiors crafted entirely from wood. The grand main entrance is designed with a sturdy, vaulted roof, ensuring both privacy and security.

A large rockery (hon non bo) is positioned in the center of the courtyard, creating two paths that lead into the house, with a side wing located to the left. The entire residence is embraced by lush green gardens.
However, the rear space is a skillful blend of nostalgic architecture and modern flair: the primary view overlooks a quiet, romantic riverside. The backyard, flanked by the main house and two auxiliary wings serving as a kitchen and dining area, surrounds a central swimming pool.

Together, they create an ideal sanctuary for family entertainment and relaxation.

The property faced multiple termite threats before implementing Exterra

Despite having a quite beautiful architecture, because most of the house structure is made of wood, over time the house has been gradually gnawed and damaged by termites.
The homeowner said that previously during the construction process, termite prevention measures using chemicals on the house foundation had been implemented. However, only a few years after construction was completed, termites began to appear in the house. Initially, they only appeared in 1 or 2 places in small numbers. But then the termites spread to many other areas in the house.

“At that time we were very worried. We used a termite baiting service from a local pest control company to stop the current situation. After the treatment was completed, the termites in the areas inside the house were completely eliminated. However, only a short time later, we discovered many wooden furniture items in the house blistering on the surface. Wood dust caused by termite feeding appeared more in the house. And the fact is that the termites had returned.”

Through investigation, we learned that the previous termite control method only resolved the immediate termite situation, but could not completely eliminate the termite colony at its root. That is the reason why termites continued to appear and attack other furniture items.

Exterra: The ultimate savior for the heritage home

After researching many methods, we decided to choose Exterra because of the effectiveness and permanent protection commitment that this termite control product from the USA brings. The result is that after a short time of use, the termites in the house have been gradually eliminated and no new termite areas have been seen. This makes us very reassured, satisfied and confident that termites will never return.

In reality, Exterra with AGS and IGS stations has been flexibly used appropriately in many areas to effectively control termites.

AGS stations will be used for termite-infested areas inside the house, helping to eliminate existing termites. IGS stations are used outside the entire house campus to form a boundary to isolate & eliminate termites. This boundary will be maintained continuously to prevent future termite intrusion. That is the exact mechanism of action for permanent termite prevention of the system.

Exterra forms a protective barrier for the house

With the protection of Exterra, it is hoped that the architectural style deeply imbued with the traditional identity of the nation will continue to be maintained and exist.
